Northwind pitches Westbury condos to young buyers
Townhouse condominiums geared to young buyers who are
purchasing their first homes are available on Maple Avenue in downtown Westbury.
Four of the 14 two-bedroom, two-bathroom and one-bedroom, one-bathroom condos still are on the market in this gated, secured community, says developer Jim Tsunis, managing member at The Northwind Group LLC, in Hauppauge. Construction on the two-story townhomes began in January 2007 and was completed last month.
The 1,560-square-foot, two-bedroom units are selling for $489,000. With 800 square feet, one-bedroom units are $389,000. All the units offer eat-in kitchens with granite countertops and GE Profile appliances; lofts; a combination of oak floors and carpeting; Andersen windows; living rooms; dining rooms; washer-dryer units; one-zone gas heat; and one-zone central air conditioning.
The two-bedroom units have a deck and a two-car garage. The one-bedroom homes have a one-car garage.
The development is less than a block from downtown shops and restaurants and one block from the Westbury stop of the Long Island Rail Road, Tsunis says. The condos are about one mile from Roosevelt Field and stores, restaurants and movie theaters on Old Country Road.
"These condos will appeal to young professionals who want to be near everything and have just a 35-minute commute to Manhattan," Tsunis says. "And, with prices still high for housing compared to other areas, it is a way to afford to move into home ownership here in Nassau County."
Estimated taxes are $8,000, Tsunis says. Monthly common charges are $198, and that includes water, landscaping, sanitation and snow removal. Saleswoman Margie Nicotra can be reached at Northwind, at 631-582-8300.
