I did not particularly find the cartoon funny as it does lack substance, but then again, that's part of the message, isn't it?

The reason Jake doesn't need a gun to protect himself is because the USA is so ingrained, properly, in the rule of law. But don't you dare forget that you have been given the right and freedom to make your comments by gun carrying citizens in our past and present history.

And why do Americans run so quickly to blame one man, Bush? I say because Americans have a very short memory in addition to being short sighted. If you look back with 20/20 hindsight, you may be surprised to discover that the policies enacted by one president affect the next presidency much more than his own. That being said, Clinton reaped the rewards of the policies and economics of Reagan and Bush the Elder. But Clinton did practically nothing except keep Greenspan in place.

Clinton even allowed Bin Laden to get away and primed us for 9/11. But, of course, most here have already forgotten that day. However, right or wrong, 9/11 set the set the stage for Bush's presidency, He has been required to re-act much more than being allowed to be pro-active.

And Bush is right in keeping the fight in the terrorist's backyard rather than our own. This has given us the time needed to re-build our intelligence network so nearly decimated but Carter, Reagan, and Clinton.

And lastly, the president is not the total government. Do not forget your Democratic congress that has made oh so much happen. They, congress, have as much of an obligation to lead and serve you, the American citizen, if not more than the president. But I don't see signs in the streets about them.

The foregoing are just some observations by a Mexican national, here legally, and a proud veteran of the United States Army. May God bless America.

And I hardly expect Biden will be defenseless. Biden was once known to have stated that Rudolph Guiliani had only three parts to any sentence he used: a noun, a verb, and a 9/11. About the only thing that might restrain Biden is this notion that beating up on poor little Mrs. Palin might make him look sexist. If she shows up gunning for him, though, he'll have a much better case for letting lose.

Nobody required Bush to be reactionist, he chose to be. It shows. You can say that Clinton had nothing to do with the great economy, but I'd say this: he didn't get in the way. Bush and the Republican Congress bent over backwards to help their friends, and look what it got us.

As for the Democratic Congress not doing much, you have the Republican minority in the Senate to thank for that: they became the most obstructive minority in the senate in our nation's history, with a year to spare.

If you expect change to come of the Republican party, you have only to look to them to see how strongly they've fought against it.

As for gun carrying citizens, I'll give them their due, but for heavens sake, this is a country built on the rule of law. It isn't a gun that guarantees our freedom, but an honored agreement that enshrines those freedoms as central to our government.

I always figured that 2/3rds of the folks that read this site are Marxists. Its a shame there are so many people willing to give up their rights so they can lay around on their butts and have someone else take care of them.

How quickly you forget that it was Bill Clinton who released Bin Lodin, Al (Dumbass) Gore that was the moron that questioned Oliver North about Bin Lodin. When Oliver North stated thet Bin Lodin was the "MOST DANGEROUS MAN ALIVE!" Al Gore laughed and could NOT even pronounce Bin Lodins name properly. Liberals on both sides of the party ticket are at fault for alot of what is happening to America today. But when are you going to face facts? WE VOTE THEM IN TO OFFICE! Dear Newsday: I don't know who offends me more - the people posting the hate comments here or your cartoon. It ain't the guns. It's the hate and killin' stupid. Or maybe it's the stupid, stupid. That applies to both. Looks like, sounds like, something a 14-year-old boy would draw in the back of class.

Dear People: Seriously, I can hardly believe the stuff that goes for fact on the Internet and in viral emails. Socialist? Do you know what that really means or did someone say it on the radio or write it on the Internet and you believed? Hatred for Americans? So weird. Look up trade imbalance. Look up federal deficit. Do some real research on a real subject.

Here's the scoop folks - the Cheney/Rove people want you to be afraid. It worked for them for the past 8 years and they aren't done exhausting it yet. They will exploit you every second they can and laugh all the way to the bank, at your expense. It frightens me to see people so gullible - no matter what party - but moreso when the motivation is hate and fear. By the way, hate cannot live without fear. Concerned Mom, you would be crazy to vote for McInsane and Silly Sarah. This $5000 dollar check to buy health insurance while taxing medicare. Oh, lets not mention the social security in the stock market. Also the package of goodies (suspension of corporate taxes) for Wall Street, once again.

For once I would like to see someone look at the facts with there republican or democrat glasses off. I look at how this affects me, and I know i could buy BETTER insurance than what I have right now with the tax credit. especially if I could buy health insurance like i buy car insurance. I cant imagine how expensive my car insurance would be if I HAD to have certain coverages that I dont want, or need.

I am not defaulting on my house payment because when I bought my house I had the capbility to think of the future and how if I signed an intro adjustable rate that I might not be able to make the payments in a few years. so i got a fixed loan. and if I couldnt have found a fixed loan then I wouldnt have bought a house. DUH! now we are bailing out a lot of stupid people. not all granted. I understand things happen. If I can do it, trust me anyone can.

try to look at the candidates past and hopefully you will choose the one that can lead us into a better future. Not the one that has a (D) or (R) by his name.
