Divya Roopchand is a visual artist at Sachem High School East, excelling in the visual and digital arts.

Divya’s artwork has been featured in art shows and competitions throughout Suffolk County. Her work is repeatedly given the highest "distinguished" ranking through the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA) Portfolio Project, and has been on display in NYSATA's Region 10 Student Exhibit at the Anthony Giordano Gallery. She has also shown her work in the Smithtown Township Arts Council's "Youth Art Showcase" at the Mills Pond House Gallery, as well as the South Bay Art Association's "Nita Elder Student Scholarship Art Exhibit" at the Bellport Community Center. This past May her work was exhibited at the Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts "Student Invitational" Art Exhibit.

In addition to her art endeavors, this year, Divya serves as president of Sachem East’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society while furthering her studies in the school’s Advanced Placement Studio Art class.

Divya plans to attend college in the fall, focusing on a major in Design but is open to other areas of study.
