Lukas Bentel, a senior at Chaminade High School, is a cellist in the Pre-College Program at the Manhattan School of Music. Lukas has performed at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall as a member of the Children’s Orchestra Society. He was the featured artist for the Island Chamber Symphony and the first place winner of the North Shore Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition. Lukas was a member of the Young Artist Orchestra at Tanglewood.

Lukas’ composed music has been performed at Flushing Town Hall, local libraries and on cable television. He also has interests in the visual arts receiving a Gold Key award from the Alliance for Young Artists, a sculpture award from the Art League’s AP Show and an award and display of a sculpture in the Heckscher Museum’s “LI’s Best Young Artists.” He is a member of the National Honor Society and Chaminade’s cross country and track teams. Lukas will be attending Brown University in the fall of 2010..
