Superstorm Sandy dealt a blow to our region. The effects of the storm will be felt for some time. For the 2012 Newsday Charities Help-A-Family campaign, we know the need will be even greater in the upcoming year as many of our friends and neighbors have been affected by the devastation Sandy left in its wake.
Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund, truly cares about the needs of those on Long Island and is committed to helping improve the lives of at-risk children and families. You can make the commitment too. The McCormick Foundation will match your gift at fifty cents on the dollar. That means your donation of $20 becomes $30; $100 becomes $150.
In addition, Newsday and the Foundation pay all administrative and campaign expenses, ensuring that 100% of your gift, plus the match, goes to support local nonprofit agencies with vital programs that:
- Offer shelter and transitional housing for the homeless
- Provide steady access to nutritious food for the hungry
- Ensure safe havens for children and families suffering from domestic abuse
- Support youth education opportunities for a successful future
