A major tasting of Italian wines is slated for Oct. 2 at Porto Vivo in Huntington. The tasting, co-sponsored by Post Wines & Spirits in Syosset, will feature 17 wines from Vinifera Imports Ltd.
Italian importer and winemaker Dominic Nocerino will host the tasting and dinner. The cost is $120 per person. The event is limited to 60 guests and payment must be made in advance to reserve a seat.
Dinner, which starts at 7 p.m., includes pan-seared scallops with parsnip pure and truffled foie gras; branzino with olive-oil poached fingerling potatoes; braised beef short rib with butternut squash puree, caponata and Gorgonzola dolce.
Featured wines include the 2001 Monte Faustino Amarone, 2005 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate, 1995 Canalicchio Brunello di Montalcino, 2009 Fontodi Flaccianello and 1998 Pelissero Barbaresco.
