STRATFORD - About 2,000 employees at Sikorsky Aircraft are keeping their jobs.

The layoffs were expected to go into effect this week.

Company officials say the workers were spared after the Pentagon announced it will bring back 90 percent of furloughed workers based on an interpretation of a law passed before the shutdown started.
