Skateboarder hit by SUV on Bedford Road in Bedford Hills

A 17-year-old boy was hit in Bedford Hills while heading home from work.

BEDFORD HILLS -  A 17-year-old boy is recovering this morning after being struck by an SUV in Bedford Hills while riding a skateboard.

According to police, an SUV was traveling northbound on Bedford Road between Woodland Road and Shady Brook Lane in Bedford Hills when the driver struck the teen.

Sources tell News 12 the victim had just left work at a nearby McDonald's and was heading home when he was struck.

The boy was taken to Westchester Medical Center in serious condition but police later said he had stabilized and was expected to be OK.

The busy roadway was closed for more than two hours as police investigated.

There is no word yet if any tickets were issued.
