'Snooki' signs new parenting book on Long Island
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi warns about her new book: "Better brace yourself for some serious disgustingness ... You will not find, 'I'm a radiant pregnant woman, watch me glow!' stories in here."
"Baby Bumps: From Party Girl to Proud Mama, and All the Messy Milestones Along the Way" (Running Press, $22) is Snooki's tell-all about how she and fiancé Jionni LaValle accidentally became pregnant with their son, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle, who is now 16 months old.
While the book talks about how motherhood has matured Polizzi, now 26, readers will still find hints of her "Jersey Shore" persona. For instance, Polizzi writes that she rang the hospital maternity nurse with these questions (wait for the third): "Is it OK if he hiccups? Can he sleep on his back? Can we use hair gel on him?" And, later on, Polizzi and co-star Jenni "JWoww" Farley and their respective fiancés sample shots of Polizzi's frozen breast milk.
Polizzi did six seasons of MTV's "Jersey Shore," and the season three finale of the spinoff "Snooki and JWoww" aired this week. Polizzi also appeared on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars." She spoke with Newsday about her book signing Jan. 15 at the Book Revue in Huntington:
Why did you write this book?
I wanted to tell my journey of my pregnancy, but also I wanted it to be comical to where a pregnant lady is reading it and she's like, "Oh my God, I know exactly what she's talking about." I just wanted to be really honest and let everybody know that the outcome of being pregnant is amazing, but the whole process is not so cool.
How have pregnancy and motherhood changed you?
Pregnancy has made me grow up, definitely, because I have to be responsible for my body and taking care of this new baby. I'm a mom now. I definitely don't like to go out and drink anymore. I'm too tired to go out. I want to go to bed at 7 o'clock at night. My priorities definitely changed. I'm just really excited for this book because people are going to see a different side of me. Everyone, when they hear "Snooki," they think "the girl from 'Jersey Shore' intoxicated, falling on her face." That's not who I am anymore.
How will you explain to Lorenzo the antics that went on during your time on "Jersey Shore"?
Everyone always asks that, like I freaking murdered someone on TV. They're like, "Oh my God, what's your son going to think?" I'm like, "Dude, it was way before him. I just turned 21 years old. I was offered to be on a reality show. I was just enjoying my life and living it up. All I did was drink." So when Lorenzo watches it, he's going to be like, "Mom, really? You're embarrassing." He's not going to be like, "Oh my God, I don't love you anymore, you're disgusting. Why would you do that?" It's all part of growing up. He's going to do that. He's going to go through that.
Your co-star JWoww is now pregnant. Do you think your pregnancy influenced her decision to have a child?
I think she definitely got baby fever. Definitely not my pregnancy. I scared her with that, telling her about my gas pains, peeing myself. But once she'd seen Lorenzo and she sees the bond that we have, that's what made her want to have a baby.
So with "Jersey Shore" co-star Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio, you and now JWoww having kids, do you foresee a future series called "Jersey Shore: The Next Generation"?
Oh, I hope not. That would be terrible. They'd be 10 times worse than us. I definitely don't want my kid to be on reality TV. I want him to go to college, and I want him to get a good job.

Here's an excerpt from the book:
'Jersey Shore’ fame didn’t cast me in the most flattering light ... Getting arrested, doing shots, and hooking up with guys I just met in clubs earned me a certain reputation. Generally speaking, strangers didn’t lift a finger for me, especially if I were falling down in the gutter... But being pregnant was a completely different story...
“As long as your belly shows, you will get sympathy. People will cater to your every whim. I definitely took advantage of the situation and I’m telling you to do the same! Don’t feel bad about taking advantage. Pregnant Princess isn’t a title you hold for long. As soon as you give birth, you abdicate the thrown. So enjoy it while it lasts, ladies.”
