American Sam Querrey routs Berdych
Improving American youngster Sam Querrey trounced his 22nd-seeded opponent in straight sets yesterday at the U.S. Open, needing just 87 minutes to overwhelm Thomas Berdych, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2.
Querrey won the big-serving Czech's first two service games. The 6-foot-6 San Franciscan used his length to block back returns; he converted 7 of his 13 break chances.
