After letting the first two batters reach base at home in the Polo Grounds, the New York Giants lefthander had a fearsome task ahead — Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons and Joe Cronin. But Hubbell (pictured left) struck out Ruth, Gehrig and Foxx to end the inning before getting Simmons and Cronin in the second to record five straight Ks on five Hall of Famers. |(Credit: AP, 1934)
