UPDATE: Barmes agreed to a two-year, $10.5 million contract with the Pirates.
CLINT BARMES
Shortstop, Houston Astros
2011: .244, 12 HR, 39 RBI
After a weak second-half in 2010, Clint Barmes was benched by the Rockies and traded to the lonely Astros in the offseason. With Houston, Barmes became a starter again at shortstop. His offensive numbers improved a bit this season over last (.235, eight homers, 50 RBIs) and his defense at short is good. With a strong market for shortstops this offseason, Barmes could be a solid backup/utility player.
