Nolasco’s 6-9 record is deceiving. He went 5-8 with the bottom-feeder Miami Marlins before getting traded to the Dodgers. The 30-year-old righthander is among the top 40 in the league in strikeouts (99) and WHIP (1.22). He’s by no means an ace for a fantasy squad, but now that he’s with a team that’s hot, he should see his win total increase dramatically. |

After a disappointing year that ended with an injury after only 93 games in 2012, Morrison has shown new life this season. In just 24 games since returning from knee surgery, Morrison is hitting .282 with four home runs, 11 RBIs and 14 runs. Though he’s injury-prone, his dual eligibility (OF) adds to his value. |

Byrd has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball in July. In 12 games this month, he has 19 hits (.322 BA), three home runs and 11 RBIs. Take advantage while Byrd is playing every day because if the Mets trade him to a contender before the July 31 deadline, his at-bats could dip. |

Beckham missed almost two months of the season with a hamate fracture in his left wrist, and he’s been solid since returning June 3, hitting .338 over that span. He suffered a minor setback with a bruised left quad that forced him to miss the last game before the break, but it’s not expected to be a lingering issue. |

After getting off to a rocky start that included four blown saves in the first month of the season, the Diamondbacks relinquished Putz as their closer. It hasn’t gotten much better for the D-Backs, as Heath Bell also has five blown saves on the year and two in three chances in July. After back-to-back strong outings from Putz, it looks like he could take back the closer’s roll which is now a by-committee situation. |
