Joba leaves game in 1st after hit in knee by liner

Joba Chamberlain left Thursday night's start after just four batters after getting hit in the right knee area by a line drive off the bat of Baltimore's Adam Jones.

Chamberlain retired Jones on the comebacker and pitched to two more batters, allowing singles to Nick Markakis and Aubrey Huff. He was limping as he went to back up third base following Huff's single, and manager Joe Girardi took him out after a short discussion on the mound.

Alfredo Aceves, who threw two innings of relief on Wednesday, replaced Chamberlain.

Chamberlain threw two pitches to Huff. The first was low and outside and the second was lined into rightfield for a single. There was no carryover from the last time the two faced each other on May 10 in Baltimore, when Huff performed a double fist pump after homering off Chamberlain.
