Overrated and over-hated 2011
Goodness, is it Thanksgiving Eve already? Where does the time go?
We're on year five of this list, and I think it's more relevant than ever. We're so comfortable viewing topics through a black-and-white, great-or-awful prism, and that leads to people, places and things being either overrated or over-hated, rather than being regarded with more nuance.
Which do we overrate, and which do we over-hate? Here's one person's take. That person being me:
Sandy Alderson – Over-hated
Beer - Over-hated
Black Friday - Overrated
Brian Cashman – Over-hated
Terry Collins – Hmm... Gimme another year.
"Curb Your Enthusiasm" season 8 - Both
Theo Epstein – Both
Fried chicken - Over-hated
Joe Girardi – Both
Gravy - Over-hated
Hurricane preparation – Over-hated
Derek Jeter – Overrated
Tony La Russa – Both. That's why he'll be missed so much.
"Modern Family" – Overrated
Ivan Nova – Overrated
Occupy Wall Street – Ovecelebrated
The people’s case against Roger Clemens - Overrated
Colby Rasmus - Over-hated
The Rays – Officially impossible to overrate
Jose Reyes – Overrated
Alex Rodriguez – Over the hill?
Rich Rodriguez – Overrated
CC Sabathia – Look, he admitted it. He ended the season overweight.
Bud Selig – Overscripted, many felt.
Nick Swisher - Over-hated on the field, overrated off it.
The "triple crown of pitching": Overrated
Bobby Valentine - Over-hated
The Wilpons – Overdue
C.J. Wilson – Overrated
David Wright – Over-hated
As always, I want to take this moment to thank all of you who stop by the blog and offer your two cents. It makes this a lot more fun.
Meanwhile, I'm on the clock through the weekend, so check back here for more updates, and later today, we'll have a giveaway contest.
