One of the most entertaining aspects of my job is watching owners and team executives flee the buliding whenever owners' meetings or general managers' meetings adjourn. It's like the end of the school year in "Grease."

Greetings from Cooperstown, where I haven't been since...less than a month ago. It's a little quieter now, compared to induction weekend. For one thing, there isn't a security guard stationed at the entrance to the Otesaga. 

Maybe there should be, though. When you think about it, there's got to be more collective wealth, easily, in 30 team owners than there were in 50 Hall of Fame players.

Thoughts: The Yankees and Red Sox are tied atop the AL East, but in our theoretical "If the season ended today" exercise, you'd give the edge to the Red Sox because of their 9-2 edge in head-to-head play....
