It looks like the Mets' pursuit of Bengie Molina has hit a major speed bump.

ESPN.com's Buster Olney tweeted this morning that Molina has rejected the Mets' latest offer, and that the team is now turning its attention towards Joel Pineiro.

This is a bit of surprise, as it was widely assumed that Molina and the Mets were headed towards an inevitable agreement.

Olney suggests the Mariners, who have spent big bucks upgrading their roster this winter, could be one destination for Molina if he shuns the Mets. Stay tuned. . .

Also heard around: SI's Jon Heyman tweeted this morning that the Mets and Jeff Francoeur avoided arbitration, agreeing to a one-year, $5 million deal.
