It's starting to get ugly again for the Mets. They dropped their fifth in a row yesterday as the Marlins completed a sweep with a 10-8 win in Florida. What's more No. 3 starter Jon Niese had to leave the game in the third inning because of a "scare" involving his surgically repaired right hamstring. Dave Lennon's game story has all the no-so-pretty details.

Plus as Dave's previous blog entry mentions, Niese has been sent back to New York for further testing. Hisanori Takahashi, who replaced Niese and threw 59 pitches over three innings of relief, cannot start Wednesday in Oliver Perez's rotation spot. With Niese out for an indefinite period, however, Takahashi is now in line to start Friday's Subway Series opener against the Yankees at Citi Field.

Daniel Murphy can't pitch. But as Lennon details in his Mets notebook, the team will ask him to do almost everything else when he shows up at Triple-A Buffalo at the end of this month.
