In one of the most heartbreaking losses in Mets history, Yadier Molina's two-run home run put the Cardinals ahead 3-1 in the top of the ninth. The Mets loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but rookie closer Adam Wainwright looped an 0-and-2 curveball over the plate to strike out Carlos Beltran and end the Mets' World Series hopes.
