MORE LETTERS FROM LIRR RIDERS

Readers' stories

As part of its coverage of the Long Island Rail Road Commuter's Council survey of bad behavior on the trains, Newsday is asking readers to send in stories of behavior they could do without. Here are samples:

On my evening commute home on the Port Washington line, I am repeatedly amazed by the dangerous phenomenon of parents who let their young children run wild on the train.

One parent allows her child to stand, climb and jump on seats, all [the] while carrying on loudly. I am not the only passenger who has changed seats (or cars) to get away from them, while the mother sits serenely ignoring the havoc. ...

This is beyond rude; it's dangerous - to both the child and everyone around him.

Suzanne

This one is for the people who block the doors when you try to get off a train. They block your way even if the train they are getting on is empty.

People should show some PATIENCE.

It's becoming a rude and disrespectful world out there.

Chris

What about the 3 a.m. trains to Long Island on the weekends? In particular, the 3:14 a.m. train to Port Washington is a nightmare.

I am 25 and embarrassed for my generation when I get on this train. Without fail, absolutely everyone is falling over drunk, screaming very loudly to the point where it's painful on the ears, and they are unbelievably obnoxious.

I have been sat on by kids who just plain don't see me in their drunken stupor, have had their food they just purchased dripped all over me, seen people puking onto the floor, and I witness a near fistfight almost every time I ride the Drunk Train, as I've come to call it.

These people are disgusting, embarrassing and they should not be allowed to ride until they pull themselves together.
