LIRR RIDERS BEHAVING BADLY

MORE LETTER FROM LIRR RIDERS

As part of its coverage of the LIRR Commuter's Council project on bad behavior on the trains, Newsday is asking readers to send suggestions on how to correct the behavior problems. Here are some ideas:

This morning on the 8:53 East Williston train to Penn Station, I found LIRR's monthly pamphlet, "Keeping Track," on my seat. Buried in the back of it was a small article about cell phone courtesy, asking riders to keep cell phone conversations quiet and brief, and to turn ringers off in favor of the vibration mode.

In the middle of reading these tips, I heard two ear-piercing ring tones go off and then listened to a woman on her cell phone speaking loudly about her plans this weekend.

Time to go back to the drawing board, LIRR.

Sean

Riding the LIRR is almost like driving, and rude passengers are just like road rage. Remember when you are trying to reform these people you don't know, you might just be dealing with another Colin Ferguson, who 13 years ago decided to take revenge and start shooting people.

If there is a problem, bring it to the attention of the LIRR staff member on the train. Let us never have to relive that day again. Barbara

As you ride the train, look around. You will be amazed at the number of people who pick their nose! To them I say, hey folks, do you think that nobody is looking? Control yourselves!

It was disgusting when you were 5 years old, and is even worse now that you are an adult! Might I suggest text messaging? It will keep your fingers occupied and won't nauseate or disturb your neighbors!

Matthew
