Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado was carted off the field in the seventh inning of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays after injuring his left leg while rounding first on an infield single.

It appeared to be a routine groundout, but after Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Tim Beckham mishandled the ball, Machado reached safely. His knee did not. Machado's leg buckled as he rounded first base, and he went down writhing in pain.

After being treated by trainers and medical officials, Machado was taken off the field on a stretcher.
