R.A. Dickey was named NL player of the month for June. He went 5-0 in six starts, leading the majors in ERA (0.93), innings pitched (481/3) and strikeouts (55). His five wins also tied for the major-league high. The righthander tossed consecutive one-hitters June 13 at Tampa Bay and June 18 against Baltimore.

The Mets announced the signing of Dominican shortstop German Rosario, 16, to a $1.75-million contract, the highest international bonus ever paid by the team. The Mets also agreed to contracts with Dominican second baseman Franklin Correa and Venezuelan shortstop Miguel Patino.

"Rosario is extremely athletic, very instinctual and highly intelligent," said Paul DePodesta, Mets VP of player development and amateur scouting. "He has the chance to impact the game offensively, defensively and off the field."
