Frank Catalanotto is on the bus this morning to Kissimmee, where he will start in leftfield against the Astros. But his "book" - Catalanotto's extensive diary on pitchers he's faced -- usually stays at home. I talked with Catalanotto about his personal scouting reports, which began in the minors back in 1996, and how it's served him well in his role as a pinch hitter, one that he hopes to continue with the Mets this season.

John Maine, slotted as the No. 4 starter, was adequate again Saturday and remains one of the most difficult pitchers on the staff to read. The most important factor with Maine is the health of his right shoulder, and he says, so far, so good.

The Mets are splitting up this morning for a road game against the Astros as well as hosting Michigan - Fred Wilpon's alma mater - at Tradition Field. Here are the two lineups:
