The Mets are in San Diego for a three game series against the surprise team in the National League.

The Padres (30-20) have the best winning percentage in the league. They have have won six of eight and lead the Dodgers by two games in the West.

San Diego has two productive catchers in Nick Hundley and Yorbit Torrealba (once targeted by the Mets). Hundley has nine hits in his last 22 at-bats. He hit a three-run homer this past Saturday against Washington and won the game in the 11th on Sunday with a pinch-hit single in the 11th inning. Torrealba had the game tying RBI Sunday. He is hitting .356 at Petco Park.

By the way, Hundley is not related to the Hundley players of the past. His father, Tim, in an assistant football coach at UCLA.
