GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Nick Swisher feels the Yankees' pain. Or in the case of Brian Cashman, admires it.
Swisher, a huge backer of the Wounded Warrior Project, applauded Cashman's skydiving antics to benefit that foundation. He also called Cashman upon hearing of his leg-breaking mishap.
Swisher said he told him, "Bro', you're a beast, dude!"
As for the wisdom of the stunt, Swisher was all for it.
"No GM has ever jumped out of a plane before," he said. "To bring attention to something like the Wounded Warrior Project, what better way to do it than the GM of the Yankees popping out of a plane.''
Despite signing with the Indians, Swisher texted with Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira after hearing of their injuries.
"I'm one of those guys that wants my friends to do well," he said. "This isn't like, 'Oh man, the Yankees traded me, I hate them.' That doesn't take away from any memories I had from before."
