MARCUS STROMAN, 22, Patchogue-Medford High School

RHP | New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Jays, AA)

1-1, 6.00 ERA, 16 K, 4 BB in four starts

Blue Jays are trying Stroman -- pegged as a future closer -- in the rotation.


STEVEN MATZ, 22, Ward Melville High School

LHP | Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets, Class A)

2-2, 3.10 ERA, 45 K, 13 BB in nine starts

Struck out 45 in 40 2/3 innings, but also has allowed 42 hits.


NICK TROPEANO, 22, West Islip, Stony Brook University

RHP | Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros, AA)

1-4, 3.90 ERA, 54 K, 19 BB, 5 saves in 14 games (eight starts)

Has bounced between the rotation and bullpen.


SEAN NOLIN, 23, Seaford High School

LHP | New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Jays, AA)

2-1, 3.20 ERA, 26K, 9 BB in five starts

Has pitched well in the minors despite a rough spot start in MLB debut.


ROB WHITENACK, 24,  Plainedge High School, SUNY-Old Westbury

RHP | Akron Aeros (Indians, AA)

0-2, 27.00 ERA, 4 K, 11 BB in three games (two starts)

Has struggled since a promotion to Double A.


MIKE BELFIORE, 24, Commack High School

LHP | Norfolk Tides (Orioles, AAA)

1-0, 4.20 ERA, 31 K, 12 BB in 17 games (no starts)

Has a 21-3 strikeout to walk ratio since striking out 10 and walking nine to start the season.


JON MINCONE, 23, Half Hollow Hills East, Suffolk CC

LHP | Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets, Class A)

Season begins July 17.


WILLIE CARMONA, 22, Hempstead High School, Stony Brook U.

1B | Lakewood Blue Claws (Phillies, Class A)

.260 avg., .302 OBP, .348 SLG, 1 HR, 18 RBIs

Has seen more time at first base recently, his natural position, and has raised his average 20 points in the last three weeks.


KEITH COUCH, 23, Holy Trinity, Adelphi University

RHP | Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox, AA)

3-2, 4.78 ERA, 40 K, 16 BB in 14 games (no starts)

Has definite strikeout stuff, punching out 40 hitters in 37 2/3 innings.

 

DAN BURAWA, 24, Rocky Point High School, St. John’s University

RHP | Trenton Thunder (Yankees, AA)

1-2, 4.94 ERA, 32 K, 22 BB in 19 games (no starts)

His last four games have been rough.
