Albert Pujols not excited about new Yankee Stadium

Is Albert Pujols excited about playing in his first game at the new Yankee Stadium?

Not really.

“No disrespect,” the Angels slugger said Friday morning before the Yankees’ home opener. “I look at it as just another city, another stadium. I know there’s a lot of history there, a lot of history in the old stadium. I don’t want to disrespect the great players who played there. But, to me, I have to separate that stuff from what I need to do to prepare myself to play this game.”

Pujols played in the old Yankee Stadium in interleague play with the Cardinals in 2003 and in the 2008 All-Star Game.

Derek Jeter, when asked if Yankee players were excited to have Pujols in the American League, said: "Our pitching staff is doing backflips in the clubhouse."
