David Wright feels good after another day of workouts
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- David Wright offered another encouraging update about his status for Opening Day. The Mets third baseman said he emerged from another day of workouts on Monday afternoon with no issues in his strained left intercostal muscle.
On Monday, as the team traveled to play the Braves, Wright stayed behind to to receive treatment and continue on his rehab plan. He reported no problems after swinging the bat on Sunday for the first time since suffering the injury at the World Baseball Classic.
"[I] feel good," Wright said on Monday. "Same routine as yesterday."
The Mets captain fielded grounders at third base before once again taking batting practice on the field. He appears to remains on track for a potential return by Opening Day at Citi Field, which is exactly one week away.
Manager Terry Collins has said that he expects Wright to be ready for game action as soon as the middle of this week.
