Now Derek Jeter can "Say Hey" to his neighbor on the all-time hits list.

Jeter's RBI single in the seventh inning of Thursday night's 2-0 win over the Red Sox gave him 3,283 hits, tying him with Willie Mays for 10th place on the all-time hits list.

Jeter's milestone came on a 3-2 pitch from reliever Junichi Tazawa and scored Steve Pierce from second base. But it was not just an empty hit or RBI. The single pushed the Yankees' lead to 2-0, providing a crucial insurance run given that the Yankees needed to win the game in order to remain tied with the Baltimore Orioles for first place in the AL East. The Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the day.
