Dominique Dawes to throw out first pitch at Citi
The Mets will get a bit of Olympic flavor Sunday for their home game against the San Francisco Giants.
Dominique Dawes, a part of the "Magnificent Seven" gynmastics team that took home gold in 1996 in Atlanta, will throw out the first pitch for the 1:10 p.m. game at Citi Field.
Dawes will be representing an Olympic sponsorship program called "Every Step of the Way." Her appearance is also one of several events celebrating the 100-day mark to the London Olympics. The 100-day countdown began Wednesday.
Newsday's Ashley Melfi had a chance to speak with Dawes, who will be doing analysis for the 2012 London games, and Olympic hopeful Megan Rapinoe, a fellow gymnast, on Wednesday. You can watch video of the interview above.
