Joe Girardi is more than comfortable with Nick Swisher, who has been swinging a hot bat, filling in for Teixeira at first base.

“When we acquired him [before the 2009 season], we acquired him before Tex,” Girardi said. “We were thinking about putting him at first. When we got Tex, that was a no-brainer to put him at first, but [Swisher] does a really good job.”
