Kobe Bryant to Alex Rodriguez: Do your thing

Late-season drama in L.A. Vinny Del Negro’s job

Late-season drama in L.A.
Vinny Del Negro’s job security, Kobe Bryant’s happiness, Andrew Bynum’s penchant to shoot three-pointers; the Clippers and Lakers have their share of off-court issues cropping up heading into the stretch. Will they affect the teams in the standings and playoff seeding in the West?

Alex Rodriguez’s friend Kobe Bryant has some advice for the struggling slugger.

“I just say to him, ‘You’re Alex Rodriguez,’” Bryant told L.A.-area reporters. “‘You’re A-Rod. You’re one of the best to ever do it.’ I think sometimes he kind of forgets that and wants to try to do the right thing all the time. Which is the right team attitude to have. But other times you really have to put your head down and say, ‘Hell with it’ and just do your thing.”

“We’re different. But you’re talking about, ‘He’s one of the best to ever play.’ I think really the difference is, sometimes he forgets he’s the best . . .  where, I don’t.’"
