Rivera reunites with Wetteland, receives gifts from Rangers

Arlington was the latest stop in the Mariano Rivera “farewell tour,” as the Yankees closer was reunited with former teammate John Wetteland, and was presented with a gift and charitable donation from the Rangers.

In a pregame ceremony, Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan was on hand to present a $5,000 donation to Rivera’s charitable foundation, and later Wetteland gave Rivera a cowboy hat and boots with the Yankees' logo.

Wetteland and Rivera were teammates from 1995-96, and on the Yankees' World Series-winning team in 1996, the two formed a dominant bullpen duo with Rivera as setup man and Wetteland as closer.

In Thursday’s game, Rivera came in to pitch the ninth to save a 2-0 Yankees' victory, marking his 40th career save against Texas.
