Mark (Reynolds) it down
Orioles first baseman Mark Reynolds was a Yankee-killer this season, hitting seven of his 23 home runs against them. The 29-year-old grew up as a Mets fan in Virginia Beach, Va., because of the team’s nearby Tidewater farm team.
Asked who his favorite Met was, Reynolds said, “Nolan Ryan.”
That makes no sense chronologically since Ryan pitched for the Mets in 1966 and 1968-’71 and Reynolds was born in 1983.
“Because I was a pitcher when I was younger,” Reynolds said. “That was the guy I looked up to.”
Ryan last pitched in 1993.
