Give Mets first-round pick Gavin Cecchini his first error.

Cecchini, a high school shortstop from Louisiana, was at Citi Field on Friday to take batting practice and meet the Mets. He was asked why he was wearing a Mets uniform with No. 2 on it.

“Derek Jeter’s my favorite player,” Cecchini said. “He’s a great role model for me and all the rest of the kids . . . He’s a great guy, great team leader and a great team player.”

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, who was sitting to Cecchini’s left, then leaned into the microphone and said, “Can we strike that from the record, please?”
