The Mets have promoted standout pitching prospect Zack Wheeler to Triple-A Buffalo, according to a tweet from the team's verified account.

Wheeler was 10-6 with a 3.26 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 116 innings for Double-A Binghamton this season. He's 22-16 with a 3.51 ERA and 316 strikeouts in 289.2 innings in his minor league career.

The 22-year-old righty was the sixth overall pick by the San Francisco Giants in the 2009 Amateur Draft. He was traded to the Mets for Carlos Beltran in July 2011.
