PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy said he will play in a minor-league game on Monday.

Murphy had been sidelined for virtually the entire spring with a strained intercostal muscle. But he bounced back well after returning to action in a minor-league game on Sunday, when he went 1-for-2 with a walk. Asked how at-bats he might see today, Murphy said "It's more of a feel thing rather than a set number."

Murphy's appears unlikely to be ready for Opening Day, especially since the Mets want to proceed with caution after the second baseman suffered a setback earlier this spring.

"I would like to be there," Murphy said.
