Judging by the words of general manager Sandy Alderson, Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey expected contract talks to move quickly. Instead, the reigning Cy Young Award winner said Tuesday he's surprised by the slow pace of the negotiations.

He likened the status of his talks with those of teammate David Wright, who is also far from agreement with the Mets.
