Tim Byrdak needs shoulder surgery

A teary-eyed Tim Byrdak said he will meet with Mets doctors in the next few days to schedule surgery to repair the torn anterior capsule in his pitching shoulder. Byrdak spoke with Johan Santana and Chris Young, both of whom have come back from the procedure.

“It’s been a very emotional two days,” said Byrdak, 38. Byrdak said he expects to attempt to return from the surgery.
