MIAMI -- The Bartolo Colon trade watch has been postponed until the offseason.

The Mets did not deal the veteran righthander before Monday’s deadline for waiver trades, ensuring that he will remain under team control for the rest of the season. But in the winter, the Mets once again will be expected to explore trading the 41-year-old, in hopes that they'll find more fertile ground for a deal.

MIAMI -- The Mets expect pitching prospect Rafael Montero to make a spot start with the big league club before the season is finished.

“We’re probably going to get him another start here,” manager Terry Collins said on Monday, when he mentioned the possibility of a six-man starting rotation.
