When Mariano Rivera struck out Jason Castro to close out Tuesday night's Yankees victory, it marked the 267th time an Astro had struck out in 27 games. Going into Saturday's games, they had struck out 300 times in 30 games, or 10 per game, the most in the majors.

Fun fact: Thursday's 18 strikeouts marked the 15th time that the Astros were rung up in double figures.

ATLANTA -- The Mets' outfield carousel turned once more on Friday when the team demoted Collin Cowgill and replaced him with Andrew Brown.

Cowgill hit a grand slam on Opening Day, though his performance only slid downhill from there. After a reduction in his playing time, Cowgill was ultimately optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas with a .157 average with two homers and eight RBIs in 19 games.

Another one bites the dust.

The Yankees announced that right-handed reliever Joba Chamberlain would be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain, adding yet another injury to a season full of them. The DL stint is retroactive to April 28.

Chamberlain is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA and one save in 9.1 innings this season.
