Yankees' HOPE Week continues at animal rescue

Three Yankees were in a different kind of doghouse before their game against Kansas City.

Ichiro Suzuki, Brett Gardner and Shawn Kelley surprised volunteers Wednesday at New Beginning Animal Rescue in the Bronx as part of the Yankees’ HOPE Week Initiative.

HOPE Week was established in 2009 and spends five days spotlighting five different individuals, families or organizations each year.

Shaun Marcum has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and will undergo season-ending surgery Monday, according to multiple reports.

The Mayo Clinic describes TOS as such: "Thoracic outlet syndrome is a group of disorders that occur when the blood vessels or nerves in the thoracic outlet — the space between your collarbone and your first rib — become compressed."

If you thought you saw Anna Benson at her craziest when then-husband Kris was with the Mets, you might want to sit down.

Benson has been arrested for “allegedly raiding Kris’ apartment with a gun and a metal baton, all while wearing a bulletproof vest,” according to TMZ.

The debate about whether Matt Harvey should start the All-Star Game is moot. At least to Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, the pitcher most frequently mentioned as an alternative to Harvey.

Alex Rodriguez goes 0-for-3 in Class A rehab game

Alex Rodriguez was the designated hitter yesterday for the Class A Tampa Yankees and went 0-for-3 in a 2-1 win over the Brevard County Manatees.

In his first at-bat, Rodriguez had to duck out of the way to avoid being hit in the head by a breaking pitch. He then lined out.

Rodriguez is expected to sit out Tampa’s game tonight but likely will be back in the team’s lineup tomorrow night....
