CC Sabathia will likely not pitch again this season, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said, due to the right knee issue that has limited him to eight starts with the Yankees this year.

When asked if Sabathia may not return during the 2014 season, Joe Girardi told reporters before Friday’s game against Minnesota, “That’s probably fair to say.”

Alfredo Aceves suspended 50 games for positive drug test

Alfredo Aceves has been suspended 50 games for a second positive test for a drug of abuse, Major League Baseball announced Thursday afternoon.

Aceves had a 6.52 ERA in 10 relief appearances with the Yankees this season. He has a 3.83 ERA in seven seasons with the Yankees and Red Sox.

Former slugger Darryl Strawberry was in debt and hooked on drugs when something finally woke him up: His girlfriend said they couldn't have sex anymore because they weren't living right.

Dellin Betances’ season line from 2013 appears uninspiring at first glance: in six games he posted a 10.80 ERA, allowing six earned runs and nine hits in five innings.
