Just over a week after the Seattle Mariners designated Jason Bay for assignment, the team announced his release Tuesday.
The 34-year-old former Met hit .204 with 11 home runs and 20 RBIs in 68 games with the Mariners this season.

The Mariners designated outfielder Jason Bay for assignment Monday afternoon in order to clear a roster spot for returning slugger Mike Morse, the team announced.
