The Yankees and Miami Marlins will play a two-game exhibition series in Panama in March to celebrate the legacy of Mariano Rivera and bring Major League Baseball to the country for the first time since 1947.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Within the space of 30 minutes Wednesday afternoon, the Mets improved their chances of trading first baseman Ike Davis.

Tampa Bay Rays rightfielder Wil Myers and Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez were named the American League and National League rookies of the year, respectively, on Monday.

Myers finished with 23 of 30 first-place votes among two other finalists in the AL, teammate Chris Archer and Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias.

Mets fireballer Matt Harvey was locked in a tight National League Cy Young battle with Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw until it was discovered Harvey had a partially torn ligament in his right elbow and would be shut down for the season.
