Mets vs. Brewers series preview

The Mets begin a three-game set with the Brewers on Tuesday at Citi Field. The Brewers lead the AL Central by five games over the Cardinals and have the second-best record in the National League. The Mets enter play five and a half games back of Atlanta and Washington, which are tied for the NL East lead.

When news began trickling out that the Mets were going to give one of their first basemen an extended look at the position, most assumed the winner would be Ike Davis.

Ike Davis says he didn't mention oblique injury during most of 2013

First baseman and trade candidate Ike Davis did not tell the Mets about an oblique injury he had during his poor 2013 season because "the timing was bad," he told the New York Post on Sunday.
