The most head-scratching trades in New York history

July 30, 2004: Jose Bautista and Ty Wigginton

July 30, 2004: Jose Bautista and Ty Wigginton for Kris Benson.
Bautista is leading the American League in home runs at the moment (25 for Toronto). Wigginton is with Baltimore, hitting .248 with 14 home runs this year. Kris Benson is pitching for AAA in Arizona and his wife, Anna, is still better known than he is. Clearly, this didn’t pan out well for the Mets. (July 3, 2010) (Credit: AP)
