Javier Vazquez can continue to strengthen his hold in the pitching rotation with a good outing against the Diamondbacks tonight in Arizona. Vazquez (6-6, 5.01 earned run average) certainly has been more dependable than A.J. Burnett and looks like a solid No. 4 starter behind Andy Pettitte, CC Sabathia and Phil Hughes. Burnett, who used to be No. 2, is fifth and sinking fast. Of course, the trade winds could make all of this subject to change.

Vazquez will be opposed by Dontrelle Willis (2-2, 4.78 overall and 1-0, 4.20 ERA with Arizona), who has not exactly lit it up since coming over from the Tigers. Willis has walked 14 batters in 15 innings. Willis has faced the Yankees once and is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA.
