It will be lefties CC Sabathia and Dallas Braden on the mound this afternoon in Oakland as Yanks look to sweep the A’s and extend their winning streak to a season-high seven games.

Sabathia -- who grew up not far from Oakland in Vallejo, Calif. – is off to a brilliant start. In his last outing, a rain-shortened performance against the Rangers, he gave up a run early but then retired 17 of the final 19 batters he faced. All told, he had nine strikeouts in the game including six in a row. Previously, he had a near no-hitter against the Rays.

Sabathia, however doesn’t always have a lot of luck against his hometown team. In his career, Sabathia is 5-7 with a 5.80 ERA against Oakland. He is 2-4 with a 6.35 ERA in nine starts at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, but he did win in his one start there last season. The Athletics have hit a combined .213 against Sabathia.

What's more, Braden has also been impressive so far. In his last start, Braden continued a string of dominating performances against the Baltimore Orioles. Braden allowed two runs over seven innings while improving to 5-1 lifetime with a 1.57 ERA against Baltimore. He struck out four and walked one, moving to 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA on the season.

In four career games, including one start, against the Yankees, Braden has allowed 14 hits and eight runs in just 9 1/3 career innings. He's 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA versus the Yankees.
